Dewar’s 12 Year Old is a blended Scotch whiskey crafted from a combination of 30 to 40 single malt and grain whiskies, including aged reserves from Dewar’s own distilleries. It undergoes a signature two-stage aging process, which includes a final finishing in first-fill bourbon casks to enhance vanilla and toffee notes. This double-aging process contributes to its smooth, balanced character and richer, fuller flavors. 

Flavor Profile

The whiskey opens with aromas of vanilla, citrus, orchard fruits, honey, caramel, and dried apricot, complemented by subtle hints of malt, roasted spices, and light smoke. On the palate, it delivers silky smooth flavors of honey, warm citrus, black pepper, dark chocolate, vanilla, burnt toffee, black cherry, espresso, and soft oak. The finish is well-rounded, with notes of milk chocolate, hazelnut latte, and a touch of smoke. Tasting reviews describe it as sweet, creamy, and approachable, making it suitable for both neat sipping and cocktails.
