Overview and History
Hennessy VSOP Privilege, also known as “Very Special Old Pale,” was first commissioned in 1817 by the future King George IV of England, making it the original VSOP cognac and a benchmark for the category. It is produced by Hennessy, the largest cognac house in the world, which controls about 40% of the global cognac market. The cognac is crafted from a blend of approximately 60 eaux-de-vie sourced from the Borderies, Fins Bois, Grande Champagne, and Petite Champagne regions, all made from 100% Ugni Blanc grapes.
Production and Aging
Hennessy VSOP Privilege undergoes a careful aging process in handcrafted French Limousin oak barrels, allowing the eaux-de-vie to develop fully and harmoniously. The maturation imparts toasted notes and enhances the complexity of the blend. The cognac is known for its consistent quality, reflecting Hennessy’s mastery and centuries of expertise in blending.
